Another big name across the footballing world has arrived in MLS and is already leaving a mark, with Timo Werner coming up big on his league debut.
On a night where Bruce Arena looked to lead his San Jose outfit to a perfect 2-0-0 start to the 2026 season, the German international could not have hoped for a faster introduction to the North American top flight.

Though not included in the matchday XI for the Earthquakes, Werner’s pedigree already bubbled to the surface in the wake of his appearance off the bench against Atlanta United in the 61st minute.
Known for his pace and direct threat in the attacking channels, the former RB Leipzig ace hit his stride with ease when he was released down the right flank before dispatching a low cross that was tucked home by Ousseni Bouda in the 79th minute.
Though he would have been brought to the Bay Arena to add firepower in front of goal, a debut assist is nothing to sneeze at for a player who is expected to make a serious impact across MLS.
