10 candidates for the Baltimore Ravens’ offensive coordinator job

The Baltimore Ravens have a new head coach — Jesse Minter— and, by extension, a new coaching staff is expected to follow.

One of the major focuses will be on offense, where Lamar Jackson is a two-time MVP but has yet to take the next steps to lead the team to a Super Bowl and be a dominant postseason performer. The new head coach will have weapons on offense in running back Derrick Henry, two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Zay Flowers, a healthy Rashod Bateman, an explosive Devontez Walker, along with Mark Andrews at tight end, and two bookends at offensive tackle.

With the fourth head coach in franchise history now in place, we’re looking at the ten offensive coordinator candidates to know.

Kliff Kingsbury | Former Commanders OC

Kingsbury could bring head-coaching experience and offensive acumen to the Ravens’ staff. He led the Arizona Cardinals for four years (2019-22) and Texas Tech for six years (2013-18), helping to develop Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray at critical points in their careers. According to Dianna Russini, Kingsbury is Jackson’s preferred choice, and it would allow Minter to focus on defense in Year 1.

During Murray’s third season in the NFL, the former Sooners star ranked second in completion percentage, seventh in QBR, eighth in passer rating and passing yards per game, and 11th in adjusted net yards per attempt. Kingsbury, the former Cardinals coach, helped Jayden Daniels win Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in his rookie season while the Commanders advanced to the NFC Championship game.

In 2025, things went drastically differently, as Daniels struggled to stay healthy and did not play nearly as well. Daniels missed time with a left knee sprain, a right hamstring strain, and a left elbow dislocation. Washington (5-12) was 22nd in both points per game and yards per contest, as Daniels’ offensive totals dropped to 1,262 passing yards and eight passing touchdowns to three interceptions, while only adding 278 rushing yards and two scores.

Declan Doyle | Bears Offensive coordinator

A young and rising coaching prospect, Doyle served as the Denver Broncos tight-ends coach from the 2023-2024 seasons before joining Johnson’s staff this year as the offensive coordinator. While Doyle has the title, Ben Johnson has called the plays for the No. 2 seed. Before joining Denver, Doyle worked as an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints from 2019 to 2022. During his four seasons with the Saints, the team compiled a 41-25 (.621) record, earning NFC South Division titles in his first two years. Doyle was part of an offense that saw eight players selected for a total of 12 Pro Bowls over those four seasons.

As a standout quarterback and two-year starter at Tennessee (1998-99), Martin led the Vols to a 22-3 record and a victory in the first-ever BCS National Championship (1998). Martin just finished his fifth season with Baltimore and third as the quarterbacks coach, following two years (2021-22) guiding its wide receivers. He joined the Ravens after 15 seasons coaching mainly in the collegiate ranks, including at his alma mater, the University of Tennessee (2019-20), where he tutored wide receivers and served as passing game coordinator and assistant head coach.

Martin has experience calling plays and was the offensive coordinator at USC when Sam Darnold rose to prominence.

Rams quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone is a former coordinator who has gotten the best out of Matthew Stafford.

Klay Kubiak | 49ers OC

Like Doyle, 49ers offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak is poised to be a hot head coaching candidate in the 2026-27 cycle. Kubiak is in his first season as a coordinator after starting as a defensive quality control coach. Then he was promoted to quarterbacks coach and offensive passing game specialist, but Kyle Shanahan calls the plays. After what Philadelphia’s defense experienced on Sunday, Kubiak should get a call.

Quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson could get a coordinator job thanks to his work with Houston quarterbacks. Johnson actually interviewed for the job following the 2023 season when Brian Johnson was fired.

Davis Mills was efficient and prepared during a three-game stint while C.J. Stroud was out. Before joining the Texans as their quarterbacks coach last spring, Johnson spent one year in the same role for the Minnesota Vikings.

During that one season, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins made the Pro Bowl after throwing for 4,547 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Johnson is a Texas A&M graduate and was an All-Big 12 performer with the Aggies, throwing for 8,011 yards and 67 touchdowns in his collegiate career.

Davis Webb | Broncos QB coach

Another former NFL quarterback-turned-coach, Webb was ironically coached by Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech before spending several years in the NFL as a backup and practice squad player. Webb turned to coaching in 2023 as the quarterbacks coach on Sean Payton’s staff in Denver. Webb became Denver’s offensive passing game coordinator and QBs coach. His work with Bo Nix has made him a name to watch during the hiring cycle. Webb has already interviewed for the Ravens’ head coaching job, but could fast-track his 2027 potential by getting the Ravens over the hump offensively.

Mike LaFleur | Rams OC

LaFleur rose through the NFL ranks as part of Kyle Shanahan’s coaching tree. He began his career with the Atlanta Falcons and later followed Shanahan to San Francisco. After a challenging tenure as the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets, where the team posted an 11-23 record over two seasons, LaFleur parted ways with the Jets in January 2023. He then joined the Los Angeles Rams as their offensive coordinator. While Sean McVay serves as the Rams’ primary play caller, he has occasionally delegated play-calling responsibilities to his assistants, including LaFleur.

If the Ravens want to create a more balanced offense with the run game, McDaniel’s version of the Kyle Shanahan offense could be something to watch if he doesn’t land another head coaching job.

Mike Kafka, former Giants interim head coach

Kafka was once a backup quarterback for the Eagles before joining Andy Reid’s coaching staff and developing into one of the NFL’s bright young minds. After Brian Daboll was fired, he did well calling plays for Jaxson Dart, effectively using the former Ole Miss quarterback’s running skills while finding passing lanes and implementing innovative concepts despite not having Malik Nabers available. Having spent the most time with the young quarterback, Kafka was most instrumental in the development of Jaxson Dart, the Giants’ rookie passer this past season. Dart started 12 games in his debut season and threw for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, five interceptions, and a 91.7 passer rating. Dart also ran for 487 yards and nine scores. The Giants finished the season ranked 13th in yards per game (333.5), fifth in rushing yards per game (129.1), 10th in first downs per game (20.4), and 13th in interception percentage (1.90%).

Thomas Brown, New England Patriots Passing Game Coordinator

Another rising coach star, Brown, is a coach to watch. This season in New England, his concepts have helped make Drake Maye an MVP candidate, with the receiving trio of Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, and Kayshon Boutte. He also used tight end Hunter Henry effectively and could help unlock the Eagles’ offensive potential.

Brian Callahan – Former Titans Head Coach

Callahan most recently served as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans from 2024 to 2025. A talented offensive mind from a family of coaches, Callahan brings 18 total years of coaching experience, including 14 in the NFL, including the previous five seasons (2019-23) as the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. During his time in Cincinnati, Callahan served under head coach Zac Taylor and won two AFC North titles, reached two AFC Championship games, and earned a Super Bowl berth. Callahan played a role in guiding quarterback Joe Burrow from the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2020 to multiple single-season franchise records by his second year and Pro Bowl honors within three years. In the three seasons (2021-23) prior to Callahan joining the Titans, the Bengals’ offense ranked in the NFL’s top 10 in several categories: sixth in scoring (24.9), seventh in passing (250.8 yards per game), seventh in redzone efficiency (61.5 percent), 10th in third-down percentage (41.0) and sixth in time of possession (31:00).

David Shaw – Lions Passing Game Coordinator

A coach who has had success at both levels, Shaw has NFL experience and a highly successful 12-year stint (2011-22) as the head coach at Stanford University. Last season with Ben Johnson out of the picture, Shaw helped guide a Lions’ offense that ranked fifth in both points per game (28.3) and yards per game (373.2). Detroit also ranked third in yards per play (5.97), passing yards per game (253.1), and interception percentage (1.37). Shaw left Stanford as the winningest coach in program history, with teams under his leadership winning 96 games, three Pac-12 titles, and appearing in eight bowl games, including two Rose Bowls. He was chosen as the conference’s Coach of the Year four times, the most in Pac-12 history.
