The 247Sports Composite ranks Mayfield as the No. 217 prospect in the 2027 recruiting cycle. He’s the No. 16 linebacker in the nation and the No. 8 recruit in North Carolina.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker had a great junior season with Lincolnton. He was named as the conference defensive player of the year after recording 152 tackles (includes 26 tackles for a loss), six sacks, six forced fumbles, a blocked punt and a blocked field goal. On offense, he contributed 13 rushing touchdowns and 343 rushing yards.

Mayfield has excellent speed and has good pursuit of opposing ball carriers. Mayfield is willing to contribute on special teams and projects as an off-ball linebacker at the next level.

Georgia has gone on a recruiting roll recently. The Bulldogs flipped commitments from four-star offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson (previously committed to Florida) and four-star wide receiver Jamir Dean (previously committed to Penn State).
