Washington football landed another big fish in its 2027 recruiting class Friday when four-star wide receiver Dontay Tyson, product of Peoria High School in Arizona, announced his commitment to Jedd Fisch and the Huskies over the Texas A&M Aggies.

Tyson made his decision shortly after completing an official visit to Seattle, his second trip to Washington after attending the program’s Junior Day event in March. The Huskies had remained one of his top choices throughout the recruiting process, with wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings playing a central role in building a strong relationship with the Arizona prospect.

The Peoria standout held more than 20 scholarship offers, including opportunities from Arizona, Tennessee, Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, USC, UCLA, Utah, Nebraska, North Carolina, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Purdue and Colorado State before narrowing his recruitment to Washington and Texas A&M.

Tyson becomes the Huskies’ 17th commitment in the 2027 class and its eighth blue-chip recruit. Je is the No. 325 overall player nationally and the No. 42 wide receiver in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is also ranked among Arizona’s top prospects.

Tyson’s commitment gives Washington four wide receiver pledges in the 2027 cycle, joining Braylon Pope, Tre Moore and fellow Arizona product Zerek Sidney. His addition strengthens a receiver group that has become a recruiting priority under Cummings, who has secured 13 wide receiver commitments since the Huskies’ 2025 recruiting class.

Tyson brings both production and versatility. Although he appeared in only seven games during his junior season, he recorded 37 receptions for 448 yards and seven touchdowns. Across three high school seasons, Tyson has accumulated 109 receptions, 1,448 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns.

Listed between 6-foot-1, 190 pounds and 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, Tyson has experience lining up in multiple receiver roles and has carried the ball 29 times during his high school career. He also qualified for Arizona’s state track meet in both the 100-meter and 200-meter events as a freshman.

Washington’s 2027 recruiting class now ranks No. 14 nationally according to 247Sports, with Tyson becoming the fourth Arizona commitment in the group and another major addition to the Huskies’ growing offensive foundation.
