With Iowa women’s basketball hosting five-star 2026 power forward recruit McKenna Woliczko for a pivotal official visit this weekend in Iowa City, the prized prospect was given VIP treatment as the program showcased its worth and brought her to the Iowa football season opener Saturday evening at Kinnick Stadium.
The 6-foot-2 wing from Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California, is ranked as the No. 6 player nationally by ESPN, On3, and 247Sports. According to 247Sports, Woliczko is the country’s No. 2 power forward and the No. 2 player from California. On3 rates Woliczko as the nation’s top shooting guard and as the No. 2 player from California.

Despite an ACL injury that ended her junior season, Woliczko has put up exceptional numbers during her high school career. Woliczko averaged 20.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game during her freshman season and 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game with Archbishop Mitty High School during her sophomore campaign.
In a recent interview on Aug. 27 via the “On Target with EJay Arrow” podcast with EJ Arocho, Woliczko mentioned that Iowa’s connected culture was an extremely important quality that stands out with the program.
Following her visit with head coach Jan Jensen and the women’s basketball program, the program showcased the university’s passion for all its athletic programs by inviting her to attend Iowa football’s season opener at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday evening.

While at the Hawkeyes’ eventual 34-7 win over Albany, Woliczko was seen smiling and conversing alongside sophomore guard Taylor Stremlow, Jensen, and other members of the women’s basketball team in the Iowa student section.
With Iowa serving as the last of Woliczko’s four official visits, including stops at South Carolina, Ohio State, and USC, the Hawkeyes went all out with their presentation to the coveted 2026 recruit with the hope that its pitch, coupled with the overall passion throughout the Iowa athletics community, acts as a difference-maker in attracting Woliczko to Iowa City.
If Iowa is able to secure a pledge from Woliczko, it will significantly raise the program’s already sky-high expectations for the 2026-27 season alongside the exceptional talent currently on the roster and serve as another monumental recruiting win that would further cement the Hawkeyes’ status as a national powerhouse.
