New Oklahoma guard Nijel Pack will get to play with the Sooners this winter after all.
Pack, who transferred from Miami (FL), in the offseason, was granted a medical waiver by the NCAA to play a sixth season of college basketball on Tuesday. Pack played in just nine games for the Hurricanes last year before injuring his foot.

In his career, Pack is a 40.3% from 3-point range and has averaged 14.3 points per game over his five seasons, including two at Kansas State, where he played before transferring to Miami ahead of the 2022-23 season. He has scored 20 points or more in 25 of his 122 career games.
Pack, who has come off the bench only once in his collegiate career, is expected to continue that streak at Oklahoma. He will likely team in the backcourt with St. Joseph’s transfer Xzayvier Brown, who averaged 17.6 points per game with the Hawks en route to first-team All-Atlantic-10 honors as a sophomore last season.
Oklahoma coach Porter Moser also bolstered his frontcourt in the portal. Former Notre Dame forward Tae Davis, a 6-foot-9, 240-pound interior player, joined from the Fighting Irish after scoring 15.1 points per game last year and Derrion Reid, a 6-foot-8 swingman who was a McDonald’s All-American, transferred to Norman from Alabama, where he started in three games for the Crimson Tide.
