Notre Dame football recruiting hasn’t skipped a beat over the last three weeks, and as the commitments keep rolling in, with Saturday night’s verbal of 2026 wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald the latest.

The son of NFL legend Larry, had been projected to commit to Notre Dame, but made it official as he joined one of the top classes in the country. Devin stands 6-foot, 2-inches and weighs 205-pounds while being ranked as the No. 453 overall prospect in the country by the 247Sports Composite.

In Fitzgerald’s case, the recruiting ranking should be thrown out the window, as he can lean on his father for expert advice, and will now bring that elite experience to South Bend with him. It can’t be understated how much the NFL father’s bring to the table, especially considering that the Irish now have numerous players with that.

Just yesterday Kaydon Finley committed, his father Jermichael also played at the highest level. Not only that, linebacker Thomas Davis Jr.’s father also falls into that category. Betting on bloodlines is a good idea, and the Irish have done plenty of that.
