It’s no secret that the Texas Longhorns are one of the favorites to win the national title ahead of the 2025 college football season.

The Longhorns are expected to be ranked among the top three teams in the nation prior to the season opener and we’ll see right off the bat how talented this team is. Instead of starting with a soft nonconference game, Texas will travel to Columbus to face reigning national champion Ohio State in Week 1.
Some fans are confident enough that they don’t need to wait and see how the Longhorns perform against the Buckeyes. According to Blake Munroe of On Texas Football, the largest bet placed on Texas to win the College Football Playoff is $300,000. That also marks the largest reported bet for any team to win the title. The payout would be $1.5 million.

Munroe also noted that the Longhorns are responsible for 12.5% of all tickets to win the College Football Playoff in 2025. The next closest is Ohio State at 9.2%. Although FanDuel and other betting sites list the Buckeyes as the 2.5-point favorite over the Longhorns in Week 1, the public is leaning toward Texas on the spread and outright winner.

The confidence is fueled by Texas reaching the College Football Playoff semifinal each of the last two seasons. Head coach Steve Sarkisian is one of the best in the country and he will have quarterback phenom Arch Manning under center in 2025.
The hype surrounding Manning and Texas is clearly at an all-time high, will the Longhorns be able to live up to such lofty expectations?
