WNBA’s Latest Brittney Griner Update Is Troubling News for Atlanta Dream originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Atlanta Dream are looking to run their winning streak to four heading into Thursday’s road game against the Chicago Sky at Wintrust Arena.

Chicago (8-21) has the third-worst record in the league and already announced Angel Reese will miss the game.
The Dream, however, are also dealing with an injury: Starting center Brittney Griner continues nursing a neck problem. Griner has missed two straight games, and the WNBA latest update offered little reason to be optimistic about the nine-time All-Star’s return.
“Griner is set to miss a third straight game due to a neck injury Thursday. With the star center unlikely to be available, the Dream are set to depend heavily upon Brionna Jones and Naz Hillmon in the frontcourt,” the WNBA’s report read.

It is worth noting Griner was listed as doubtful ahead of Atlanta’s game against her former team, the Phoenix Mercury, on Friday, and she ended up missing that contest. Though her status could change closer to the scheduled tip, this latest update does not bode well.

The Dream have not provided too many details on Griner’s neck issue, but it is clear they’re not rushing the 12-year veteran back amid her health concerns.
