UNC basketball target set to visit rival

by

This weekend begins a very busy period of visits for basketball recruits as they look to visit programs throughout the fall months. For North Carolina, they will begin things by hosting five-star wing Anthony Thompson this weekend.

He won’t be the only prospect on UNC’s campus in the coming months. But with that, prospects will also take visits to other programs, trying to get a feel of what programs have to offer. And one big UNC prospect has just set an official visit to UNC’s rival.

Five-star guard Deron Rippey Jr. has 44 offers and is one of the top prospects in the 2026 class. He has big programs after him, including UNC, Duke, Kansas, and Tennessee, among others. Rippey Jr. has set some of his visits already and will be on UNC’s campus beginning on August 31st.

However, his latest visit scheduled is for Duke as he will visit the Blue Devils on October 21st.

It’s going to be a busy period for Rippey Jr. as he will also head to Miami (August 27), Alabama (September 13), Texas (September 19), Syracuse (September 26), Kentucky (October 3), Indiana (October 17), Tennessee (October 25), Kansas (November 2), and NC State (November 7). All of those programs are his 12 finalists.

Rippey Jr. is ranked No. 18 nationally, the No. 2 point guard and the No. 1 player in the state of New Jersey per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
