Marist University men’s basketball will play a pair of major-conference teams on the road, and host a rare six-game homestand overlapping November and December.
This will be the eighth season with John Dunne as head coach.

The Red Foxes open the season at Big East power Xavier (22-12 last season), in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 3 – it will mark the schools’ first meeting – the Musketeers beat Texas and lost to Illinois in the NCAA tournament. Six weeks later, Marist will travel to Atlanta, Georgia, on Dec. 16 to face Georgia Tech (17-17 last season) of the Atlantic Coast Conference – the Yellow Jackets bowed in the opening round of the NIT.

Marist has lost all four meetings with Georgia Tech, the first time coming in the 1986 NCAA tournament, the Red Foxes’ first foray into the postseason. The last matchup was in Dec. 2003.
A 15-game home slate at the McCann Arena will include non-conference foes Vassar from the NCAA Div. III Liberty League for the first time (the home opener on Nov. 12); Harvard (Nov. 16); Army (Nov. 21); Lehigh (Nov. 25) and Stony Brook (Dec. 21). The six-game homestand is the longest since a seven-game stretch in the 1991-92 campaign.
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, with 13 teams, will play an unbalanced schedule for the second season in a row. Marist will play home-and-home with all schools except Canisius and Niagara (both on the road), plus Iona and Mount Saint Mary’s (both at home).
The MAAC tournament will be hosted at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., from March 5-10.
