Texas A&M rises several spots in the latest AP Top 25 poll ahead of Week 3

by

The Texas A&M Aggies (2-0) came away with a big 44-22 win over the Utah State Aggies (1-1) Saturday afternoon at Kyle Field. It’s the first time since 2016 that they’ve started a season 2-0, and gave them a little bump in the AP Top 25 Poll after Week 2.

Based on the opponents the Aggies faced, there is still much to be learned as they prepare to face a top-10-ranked Notre Dame team coming off a bye week. A&M looked fine through the first two games, and with comfortable leads, there is little doubt the playbook was opened much. Overall, the offense looked fine, and so did the starting defense, aside from a few minor issues that they should be able to address in the film room this week.

There were numerous minor fluctuations in the poll this week, along with some stunning upsets that significantly impacted a few teams. Most notable was Florida going from No. 13 to unranked after losing 18-16 to previously unranked South Florida, which now sits at No. 18.

The game between Oklahoma and Michigan also saw a decent swing in the rankings, with OU moving up five spots to No. 13 following a 24-13 victory over Michigan, which dropped eight spots to No. 23. Lastly, Florida State entered the top 10 and No. 10 after demolishing East Texas A&M 77-3.

After jumping five spots to No. 17 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, Texas A&M is ranked at No. 16 in the latest AP Top 25 poll heading into Week 3.
