Indiana football’s 73-0 win over Indiana State was one of the most dominant victories in team history. After coming off last year’s College Football Playoff appearance, the Hoosiers haven’t skipped a beat. This was the most statistically one-sided game in the history of the in-state rivalry. Here are four stats to prove that point.

Total yards allowed
Indiana allowed ISU just 77 total offensive yards, which is the fifth-least amount in program history. Last year’s 66-0 win over Purdue with 67 yards was the fewest yards allowed by Indiana since at least 1958, according to Indiana sports information. Their performance also represented Purdue’s lowest yardage total in a game in their program’s history, which was previously 71 yards in 1970 against Ohio State. Indiana held Nebraska to 38 yards in 1942.
Points scored
Indiana had the third-most points in program history on Friday night. Last year’s 77-3 win over Western Illinois was the record-setter since 1901, when the Hoosiers defeated Franklin College 76-0. They took a 45-0 lead going into halftime over ISU.

Total yards in a single game
Indiana set a record with 701 yards against Western Illinois last year. Tonight marked the second-most in IU history with 680 yards at the final buzzer.
First downs
Indiana State had five first downs, which tied for the least allowed in Indiana history.
Individual records:
Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza sets Indiana football single-game completion percentage record. He was near perfect, going 19-for-20 passing for 270 yards and five touchdowns, adding a rushing touchdown.
Mendoza’s 95% completion percentage set a program record that was set by Peyton Ramsey, who completed 13 of 14 passes (92.9%) against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 7, 2019, according to the Indy Star.
Omar Cooper Jr. ties IU football record for single-game touchdown catches. He caught five touchdown passes from Mendoza of 13, 31, 11 and 58 yards. This came on 10 total receptions.

Those four touchdown catches matched James Hardy’s efforts against Michigan State on Oct. 28, 2006 for most by a Hoosier in a single game. Hardy finished with 10 catches for 207 yards and four scores, according to Indy Star.
Indiana football sets record for longest home winning streak. The Hoosiers have won all 11 home games since Curt Cignetti took over in 2024. That’s the most in program history.
