Napoli 3-1 Fiorentina (Sep 13, 2025) Game Analysis

by

Rasmus Højlund marked his Napoli debut with a goal as they eased to a 3-1 win away to Fiorentina to extend their perfect start to the Serie A campaign.

Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring from the penalty spot just six minutes in before Højlund, making his first appearance for the club since joining on loan from Manchester United, doubled the lead before the quarter-hour mark.

Sam Beukema then made sure of the points six minutes into the second half, with Luca Ranieri’s 79th-minute goal too late for Fiorentina to threaten a comeback.

The win kept Napoli on maximum points after three games, level with Juventus at the top of the Serie A standings.

“It’s a very important win today, we won the first three now and want to continue like this,” Højlund told Sky Italia.

“We have a very important game in the Champions League coming up, I am very happy to be with this incredible team.”

Højlund had already gone close, following up on Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s effort, when Napoli were awarded an early penalty for a foul by Pietro Comuzzo on Frank Anguissa, and De Bruyne left David De Gea wrong-footed to open the scoring.

Leonardo Spinazzola’s long ball then found Højlund, who skipped past Marin Pongracic before beating De Gea.

De Gea denied De Bruyne as he clawed his shot away from the top corner in the 24th minute, with the chance set up by Højlund.

Moise Kean and Edin Dzeko both had chances for the hosts but struggled to test Vanja Milinkovic-Savic in the Napoli goal.

Napoli put the game to bed early in the second half when Anguissa crossed for Beukema to finish from close range and they might have had more as Scott McTominay was denied by his former Manchester United teammate De Gea before Matteo Politano hit the post.

Fiorentina pulled a goal back with 11 minutes left when Ranieri struck after Nicolussi Caviglia’s corner fell his way, but although they applied some late pressure they could not find a way back into the match.
