Brady Smigiel, a four-star quarterback from Newbury Park (Calif.) and Michigan commit, will miss the remainder of his high school season due to a torn ACL, according to MLive.
Smigiel had thrown for 1,624 yards and 15 touchdowns before the injury. Initially committed to Florida State, he flipped to Michigan in April, citing renewed enthusiasm after Chip Lindsey was hired as offensive coordinator.

He was named on the ALL-USA Football Team Watchlist for the West region before the season.
Recovery from an ACL tear typically spans 8-9 months, making him unlikely to participate in spring practices at Michigan if he enrolls early. A redshirt year in 2026 is a strong possibility as he focuses on rehabilitation.
Smigiel confirmed the injury via social media and expressed gratitude for the support.
