If there is one position where the transfer portal will hurt Notre Dame the most, its at safety, and on Tuesday the group took another hit.
Ben Minich, a redshirt sophomore, went to social media on Tuesday to thank Irish nation for the past three years, and making it his intention to enter the transfer portal as a graduate. He had his best season last fall, with 8 tackles and a half-sack, but was never able to really make a mark in his time in South Bend.

Minich came into the program as a 4-star out of Ohio, and many thought that he’d have a solid Notre Dame career. Unfortunately that won’t be the case, as he’ll look to a school that will give him a better chance to see the field.
JaDon Blair, Taebron Bennie-Powell and now Minich make three safeties to leave via the portal, and if you add cornerback Chance Tucker, the secondary is getting gutted. It might not be a bad thing, as there are more than a few younger players who will force their way on the field next fall.
We wish Ben the best at his next football destination.
