Michigan State football has gained it’s second commitment of the transfer portal window, this time kicking things off on the defensive side of the ball. The Spartans have secured the pledge of Tyran Chappell, a cornerback transfer from Houston Christian.
Standing at 6-foot-3, weighing 170 pounds, Chappell provides strong length in the defensive backfield. As a redshirt freshman in 2025, Chappell recorded 27 tackles, two tackles for loss and four interceptions. He will bring three years of eligibility with him to East Lansing.

A Denton, Texas native, the Spartans beat out Mississippi State for the commitment of Chappell, who brings added depth into the defensive backfield.
