The Oklahoma Sooners found more good news in the transfer portal on Monday, with news that Ivan Carreon will be returning to the program, according toย OUInsider and On3’s Parker Thune.
Thune, citing a statement from the player’s representation, is reporting that Carreon has withdrawn from the portal and is back on campus. Carreon entered the portal on January 6ย and, less than two weeks later, is back with the Sooners.

Carreon was a four-star wide receiver signing in the 2024 recruiting class, and his return means that he’s the only wide receiver from that class still on the roster. He played a lot as a true freshman, earning 190 snaps on offense amid all of the injuries the wide receiver room suffered.
As a true freshman, he caught 10 passes for 89 yards, including a breakout performance against Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl. There, Carreon recorded seven catches for 77 yards.
This season, with better health at wide receiver, Carreon played just 71 snaps on offense. However, during fall camp, he was praised for his offseason work to transform his body by offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle.
Carreon has a chance to earn a spot in the Sooners wide receiver rotation behind Trell Harris, Isaiah Sategna, and Parker Livingstone. Oklahoma’s other depth options include Jer’Michael Carter, Elijah Thomas, Manny Choice, Jacob Jordan, and true freshmen Jayden Petit, Daniel Odom, Jahsiear Rogers, and Xavier Okwufulueze.

With Sategna, Carter, and Harris out of eligibility after this season, Carreon could find a bigger role in 2027.
