With two impressive wins over Oregon (74-66) and then-No. 15 Michigan State (75-68) last week, Iowa women’s basketball (16-2, 7-0 Big Ten) has continued to soar up the AP Top 25 Women’s College Basketball Poll.
It’s the first time Iowa has been ranked inside the poll’s top 10 in nearly two years. The last time the Hawkeyes were ranked inside the AP’s top 10 was in Caitlin Clark’s final game in the black and gold against South Carolina in the 2024 national championship game.

In those two wins over Oregon and Michigan State, the Hawkeyes have seen sensational efforts from senior forward Hannah Stuelke, sophomore center Ava Heiden and the breakout of freshman guard Addie Deal.
Deal had a career-high 18 points against the Ducks on Jan. 15, shooting 7-for-9 from the field and 4-for-4 from 3-point range in 20 minutes off Iowa’s bench. Meanwhile, Stuelke and Heiden have combined to average 36.5 points and 16.0 rebounds during Iowa’s two wins last week.
In addition to Iowa, seven other Big Ten squads help populate the newest poll. UCLA is ranked No. 3, Michigan No. 7, Ohio State No. 12, Michigan State No. 13, Maryland No. 15, Nebraska No. 24, and Washington No. 25.

Illinois (42 points) and Minnesota (1 point) are both receiving votes.
The Hawkeyes have a challenging schedule ahead of them this week as they travel to No. 15 Maryland on Thursday and host No. 12 Ohio State on Sunday.
