Where Duke basketball ranks in polls, NET rankings after West Coast sweep

Duke basketball moved up one spot in national polls following its 6-0 start to ACC play.

The Blue Devils (17-1, 6-0 ACC) moved up from No. 6 to No. 5 in the latest USA TODAY Sports men’s basketball coaches poll that was released on Monday, Jan. 19, with 653 total points. Duke also moved up one spot in the AP poll with 1,296 votes.

The Blue Devils are 6-0 to start ACC play, sweeping their West Coast swing with wins over Cal (71-56) and Stanford (80-50). Duke became the first team in the league to sweep its West Coast swing this year. Wake Forest was the first last season.

Cameron Boozer led the Blue Devils in scoring in both contests out west, putting up 21 points against Cal – 17 in the second half – and 30 against Stanford. Isaiah Evans is now up to five-straight games in double-figures, with 17 against the Golden Bears and 15 against the Cardinal.

The Duke defense held Cal to a season-low 26 points in the second half on 31.8% shooting and held Stanford to 50 points on 35.2% shooting. Cardinal guard Ebuka Okorie entered the contest coming off a 36-point outing and was the league’s leading scorer, but was held to nine points.

The Blue Devils have one game this week, back home to host Wake Forest and continue ACC play on Saturday, Jan. 24.

USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll

Duke moved up one spot from No. 6 to No. 5 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Duke remains the highest-ranked team in the ACC in the poll, above Virginia (15), Clemson (18), Louisville (21) and UNC (24). Arizona remains No. 1 for the second-straight week, with Michigan (2), UConn (3) and Purdue (4) rounding out the top-five with the Blue Devils.

Duke basketball ranking in AP Top 25 men’s basketball poll

Duke moved up to No. 5 in the AP poll after three weeks in the No. 6 spot. Virginia (14), Clemson (18), UNC (22) and Louisville (23) are the other ACC teams in the poll.

Duke basketball NET ranking

Duke moved up two spots from No. 4 to No. 2 in the latest NET (NCAA Evaluation Tool), just below No. 1 Michigan. The Blue Devils are 8-1 against Quadrant I opponents, the only team in the NCAA with eight Quad I wins, and are 9-0 against opponents in Quadrants 2-4.

Duke basketball ranking on KenPom, Bart Torvik, EvanMiya analytics sites

Duke moved from No. 8 to No. 3 in KenPom rankings, below Michigan (1) and Arizona (2). The Blue Devils moved up three spots in Bart Torvik rankings to No. 11 and moved up three spots to No. 3 in EvanMiya rankings.
