Following last night’s National Championship game, the 2025 college football season is finally complete, and with that comes the final batch of rankings for the year. After entering the College Football Playoff at No. 7, the Aggies dropped just one spot to No. 8 in the final rankings for both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Certainly losing your final two games of the season after an 11-0 start was not the way the Aggies wanted to finish, but your first top 25 finish since 2020, and just your third top 10 finish since joining the SEC, is still an undoubtedly successful season. It’s one Mike Elko, his staff/players and all A&M fans should be proud of, even if the ending left a sour taste in everyone’s mouths.

But now, we turn the page to 2026. The Aggies lose a lot, but have also already done a lot in the transfer portal to fill a lot of those departures. And as the Playoff results have shown, you can rebuild/reload in a hurry in college football today. But unfortunately, we have to wait more than seven months to find out exactly how well the Aggies did on that front.
And thus the offseason begins…
