Nebraska drops another late-game lead to fall to Wisconsin 63-60

by

Nebraska women’s basketball (14-5, 3-5) visited Madison for a Wednesday night showdown against the Wisconsin Badgers (13-7, 5-4). Despite coming back from a big deficit, the Huskers dropped another game late, falling 63-60.

Once again, it came down to the wire for the Huskers, who at one point held a six-point lead in the fourth. Nebraska’s lead shrank down to three with just over two minutes left, however, and Wisconsin closed the game out on a 6-0 run. This negated the Huskers’ massive third quarter, where they erased a 13-point deficit and outscored the Badgers 22-7.

Wisconsin also turned over the ball 22 times, but Nebraska only produced 18 points off of them. The team finished 23-of-62 on the night while Wisconsin hit 25-of-55. The Badgers also controlled the board, outrebounding the Huskers 45-26. Wisconsin and Nebraska also both landed six shots from three-point range.

Amiah Hargrove scored a team-high 15 points in the loss, hitting 7-of-10 from the floor. She also secured five rebounds. Eliza Maupin scored a double-double after landing 13 points and 13 rebounds, shot 3-of-5 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Britt Prince rounded out Nebraska’s double-digit scorers, tallying 11 points after shooting 5-of-13 from the floor.

Nebraska now returns home from its road trip for a two-game stand, starting with a Saturday afternoon clash against Illinois. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CT on the Big Ten Network.
