The location of Eugene, Oregon has often plagued Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting front, but being in the Pacific Northwest is an advantage this weekend.
With winter weather shutting down myriad recruiting weekends in the South and on the East Coast, Oregon’s big junior day is still a go. One of the headliners on campus is Harper Woods (Mich.) four-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant.

The rising 6-foot-1.5, 200-pound pass-catcher posed with Lanning as the Big Ten program continues to pursue his pledge:
This is Guerrant’s fifth trip to Eugene. He was on campus during the fall and the staff continues to prioritize him as one of the best in the nation.
“One of the things that keeps me going back is the staff,” Guerrant told Rivals’ Chad Simmons earlier this month. “I love Coach Lanning and the rest of the staff. The coaches are great, and they take time to get to know me and my family.”
There’s a slew of other contenders for Guerrant, as expected. Michigan is right around the corner and isn’t keen on letting him leave the home state. Michigan State is in the mix, too, while Miami, Ohio State and Tennessee are among the others pushing.

It remains to be seen when Guerrant will chop down his list of top schools, but there’s reason to believe that Oregon will be a finalist right up until the time comes to make a decision. Ducks fans will be glad to hear that distance doesn’t appear to be a factor for the blue-chipper.
“There’s not too much to do in Oregon, so I know if I went there, I would be locked in at all times,” Guerrant said. “They will definitely get an official visit from me. I will commit after my official visits, and coaches, culture in the locker room, the offensive scheme and winning are the things I want in my school.”
Guerrant is the No. 55 overall prospect and No. 8 WR in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked junior in Michigan.
Oregon currently has one commitment in its 2027 class: Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson four-star defensive lineman Cam Pritchett, the No. 22 DL in the cycle. The Ducks just inked the No. 3 class in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
