The Iowa football program is continuing to search for quarterbacks for its 2027 recruiting class. And they seem to have found a region that they like.
On Monday, the Hawkeyes offered three-star quarterback Jake Nawrot, out of Arlington Heights, Ill. They stayed in the Chicago area on Tuesday, meeting with and eventually offering a highly sought-after four-star quarterback.

Israel Abrams took to X on Tuesday to announce that he met with Iowa offensive coordinator Tim Lester and received an offer from the Hawkeyes.
Abrams is a 6-foot-4, 187-pound quarterback prospect from Montini Catholic High School. He’s currently the 22nd-best prospect in the entire country for the 2027 class, according to 247Sports. Per 247Sports, Abrams is the second-ranked quarterback in the class and the highest-ranked player from the state of Illinois. With those rankings, it’s no surprise to see that Abrams is a highly coveted talent in this cycle.
Abrams currently holds offers from 19 programs, including Auburn, Indiana, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and more big-name schools. A lot of programs got in on Abrams following his insane junior season. In 2025, he led Montini Catholic to a perfect 14-0 season with some eye-popping stats. He completed 68.5% of his passes for 4,072 yards and had a 40-to-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Abrams also ran for 224 yards and 10 scores.

Abrams is one of the best players in his recruiting class, and it’s good to see Kirk Ferentz, Lester, and the rest of the staff in on his recruitment. He could be a program-altering talent if the Hawkeyes were able to land him for their 2027 class.
