Matt Campbell has landed his first commit that’s not in the 2026 class.
2028 cornerback Deonte Flemings Jr. has committed to Penn State while on a visit to State College.
Flemings Jr. is not yet ranked due to him still being just a sophomore in high school. Flemings, a native of Erie, Pennsylvania, has a strong group of offers prior to his commit to the Nittany Lions.

Prior to receiving an offer from Penn State on Jan. 23, Flemings earned offers from Notre Dame, Pitt, West Virginia, UTSA, Syracuse, Southern Miss and Sacramento State, with the latter being his first official offer back on Oct. 23, 2025.
Flemings received his offer from the Nittany Lions just eight days ago, unofficially visited Penn State this weekend, and committed to Campbell and company on his visit.
He stands at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds and plays for an in-state high school, Eric McDowell. With him yet to be ranked, this doesn’t change anything in the recruiting rankings for Penn State’s Class of 2028.
