New York Jets News: Karl Dunbar Will Return as Jets’ Defensive Line Coach

by

Good morning Gang Green Nation! The New York Jets made two key hires yesterday. They brought in Frank Reich as offensive coordinator and Karl Dunbar as defensive line coach. Given the current drawbacks to signing on with the Jets, these hirings likely represent the best scenario a Jets fan could reasonably hope for. Dunbar in particular is an exciting addition to the staff. He is one of the best in the business as a defensive line coach.

After a somewhat tumultuous ride, the Jets seem to actually be making some positive moves this offseason. The coaching staff seems improved, though there is still plenty of work to be done there with multiple assistant coaching positions still unfilled. If the Jets can manage a measured approach to free agency, adding talent without getting saddled with bloated contracts, then a 2026 draft with four picks in the top 44 sets the team up for significant progress in 2026. We’ll see if this team is able to avoid crippling mistakes in the days ahead, but for now, the arrow is tentatively pointing up.
