Netter was the offensive line coach at Stanford from 2023 to 2025, and prior to that spent five seasons at Yale, where he served as offensive line coach, co-offensive coordinator, assistant head coach and run game coordinator.

Netter has a previous relationship with new Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald because he played for him at Northwestern. He was on the Wildcats offensive line from 2008 to 2011, and played in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans.
