I appreciate everyone in the Big East doing everything possible to just make at least short-term storylines happen for the What To Watch every week. Sometimes I sit down to put this together and say “oh, man, how am I going to invent highlights for the week,” and then it turns out that I don’t have to work very hard at all. I came up with seven games with something notably interesting about them this week and an eighth that I completely invented because of how it impacts me personally. That’s awesome! Good work, everyone.
Let’s get to the highlights!

Tuesday, February 10: Marquette Golden Eagles at RV Villanova Wildcats (6:30pm Central, TNT/truTV) — Marquette has alternated wins and losses for the last five games, and they’re clearly a more frisky team than they were when they lost to the Wildcats at home back on January 10th by just three points. Can they take the magic on the road against a VU team that’s trying to hammer down an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament? Oh, and: Shaka Smart is a perfect 3-0 at Finneran Pavilion…….
Wednesday, February 11: #6 Connecticut Huskies at Butler Bulldogs (6:30pm Central, TNT/truTV) — This is the first game for Solo Ball & Friends since taking on their first Big East loss of the season and their first all hands on deck loss of the season. Butler is foundering on the rocks of the season badly here, so they just might end up being a victim of an annoyed set of Huskies….. or maybe they can catch UConn on a bad note and get a home win?
Wednesday, February 11: Seton Hall Pirates at Marquette Golden Eagles (6:30pm Central, ESPN+) — Skylar Forbes and Marquette are coming off gacking up an overtime loss to Creighton on Sunday after leading by 12 early in the 4th quarter. Savannah Catalon and Seton Hall are coming off two straight losses, and three in their last four if you want to blame them for a home loss to UConn. Their scant NCAA tournament hopes are probably up in smoke by now, but both of these two teams are looking for a bounce back win. Upside for me, personally: I get to watch Tony Bozzella coach live in person!
Wednesday, February 11: Providence Friars at Seton Hall Pirates (6:30pm Central, Peacock) — The Pirates have lost six of their last eight games. It’s hard to really judge them for losing at Villanova or at Creighton, but Budd Clark and SHU are running out of ways to remind the NCAA selection committee that they might be worthy of an at-large bid. As for the Friars, they went 2-0 last week in the Kim English Keep Your Job Challenge. Can they keep that going?

Saturday, February 14: #1 Connecticut Huskies at Marquette Golden Eagles (12pm Central, FS1) — Just putting this in here because I’m going to get to watch Sarah Strong in person, and it’s gonna be awesome.
Saturday, February 14: RV Villanova Wildcats at Creighton Bluejays (1:30pm Central, Fox) — Creighton’s at-large hopes are pretty much done right now, but the fact of the matter is that Austin Swartz hung 20 on the Wildcats at The Finn earlier this season in a 76-72 Bluejays victory. Can they do it again in Omaha as Nova looks for revenge as well as decent/quality wins for their NCAA profile?
Sunday, February 15: Villanova Wildcats at Creighton Bluejays (4pm Central, truTV) — As I write this, Creighton has won four straight and five of the last six. I’m just going to ignore whatever might happen against UConn on Wednesday and wonder if Jim Flanery’s Bluejays can keep the good times going at home against the Wildcats here. Jasmine Bascoe and Nova can’t afford to take bad losses to keep their NCAA profile afloat, and this would not be a good loss at the very least.
Sunday, February 15: Seton Hall Pirates at Butler Bulldogs (5pm Central, FS1) — The 6 out of 8 losses thing from earlier for Shaheen Holloway’s Pirates holds true here, and no matter how their home game against Providence goes, they can’t just let this one slide past them.
