Star Kansas freshman guard Darryn Peterson is a late scratch for the 9th-ranked Jayhawks’ showdown with No. 1 Arizona Monday night due to flu-like symptoms.
A Kansas spokesman announced the new to reporters shortly before the game’s schedule 9 p.m. ET tip. The game was billed as one of the biggest on the college basketball calendar with the projected No. 1 pick in NBA Draft in Peterson leading Kansas against the top-ranked and undefeated Wildcats.
Instead, Peterson will miss another high-profile match as injuries and now illness have marred his otherwise standout freshman campaign.
