Jeremy Fears Jr. named to Wooden Award’s Late Midseason watch list

by

Michigan State basketball point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. is a certified star. The leader of the MSU team, Fears has positioned himself as one of the best point guards, and players, in all of college basketball. That sentiment was backed up on Tuesday, when he made the Wooden Award’s Late Midseason watch list.

The Wooden Award is the most prestigious individual honor in college basketball, presented annually to the most outstanding player in the sport. Shockingly, no Spartan has won the award since its inception, although some have been recognized.

Fears leads Michigan State in scoring at 15.1 points per game, along with assists at 9.1, while shooting 44.2 percent from the floor and 89.9 percent from the free throw line. One of the team’s captains, Fears ranks first nationally in assists per game, total assists (219), No. 4 in assist/turnover ratio and is No. 23 nationally in free throw percentage.
