LSU women’s basketball will play in front of a packed house this week when No. 3 South Carolina comes to town. The Tigers officially announced the Feb. 14 game was sold out.
LSU vs. South Carolina has grown to become one of the most anticipated matchups in the sport. The game is circled on the calendar when the schedule is released every year. Dawn Staley and Kim Mulkey have built powerhouses at their respective programs. Both are perennial contenders and have won national championships in recent years.

While it is a rivalry, South Carolina has continued to dominate the series. It’s been over 10 years since LSU last downed South Carolina, but LSU hopes a raucous home crowd can provide the energy to do it this week.
Last year, South Carolina pulled out a 66-65 win in Colombia. LSU played well and free throws proved to be the difference, with South Carolina earning enough trips to the line to separate from the Tigers.
LSU vs. South Carolina won’t be the only big sporting event in Baton Rouge on Saturday. LSU baseball will play Milwaukee earlier in the day at Alex Box Stadium. It’s opening weekend for head coach Jay Johnson and the Tigers as they look to defend their College World Series title.
