Battle Creek Central standout Camari Williams committed to play football at Albion College at a signing ceremony at Battle Creek Central High School on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

It is the next step in his football journey, which almost came to an end after his big brother was shot and killed in 2022.

Having his brother part of his big day was important as there was a photo of the late Chris Williams brought to the signing ceremony, right along side the rest of the family members for the event.

“I was going to quit football, but my brother motivated me to keep playing,” Camari Williams said. “I played for my brother in high school and now I am ready to take it the next level and I’m getting ready for bigger and better things.”

At 6-foot, 3-inches and more than 400 pounds, Williams was one of the more dominating players in high school football last season on a BCC team that went 4-5. Williams played defensive tackle and offensive line for the Bearcats. He is expected to be used on the offensive line at Albion College.

“It was a very hard decision. I had so many choices. But I thought Albion was the right choice for me,” Williams said. “I felt welcome there. I have a lot of boys up there. Just ready to show them what I got.”
