The Tennessee Vols are trending in the right direction as we pass the midway point of February. Aside from a stumble on the road against Kentucky, the Vols are unbeaten for the month and have won six out of seven games since, of course, losing to Kentucky at home back on January 17.
At 18-7 overall and 8-4 in SEC play, Tennessee is firmly in the projected NCAA tournament field about a month in advance of the start of the big dance.

But where do the pundits believe that they stand at this point? ESPN and CBS Sports have the Vols in a very similar spot at this point.
As of Sunday night, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi hasn’t yet updated his full bracket since Saturday’s action, but he has the Vols as a 6 seed in the Midwest region going up against Miami (OH), with Michigan State as the corresponding 3 seed.
CBS Sports has updated their bracket predictions, and they also have Tennessee as a 6 seed facing off against a play in game winner, with Kansas as the Vols’ corresponding 3 seed. Kansas beat Tennessee early in the season 81-76.
On3 Sports also has Tennessee on the six line, with Miami (OH) as the 11 seed and Nebraska across from them as the 3 seed.

So, at this point, if the supposed experts are to be believed, Tennessee is currently living in six-seed land.
The Vols have some chances at notable, resume-building wins down the stretch, including home games against Vanderbilt and Alabama and a road trip to Vandy. They also have some chances at ugly losses, with Oklahoma coming up on Wednesday night and South Carolina on the road near the end of the regular season.
Still plenty of time left for the Vols’ needle to move either direction, but for the time being, it’s at least moving the right way.
