LSU football sits on a hotbed of talent in Louisiana. It’s played a key role in LSU’s success this century, which includes winning three national championships under three different head coaches. The bulk of LSU’s recruiting class often comes from within the state. Not many programs have this much talent in their backyard.
In 2026, 56% of LSU’s high school signees are Louisiana products. Defensive linemen Lamar Brown and Richard Anderson, both five-stars, headline the class. Brown hails from Baton Rouge, while Anderson makes the short trip from New Orleans.

On the offensive side of the ball, tackle Brysten Martinez signed with LSU out of Gonzales, Louisiana, while wide receiver Jabari Mack hails from Destrehan.
Brown, Anderson, Martinez, and Mack all stuck with LSU through a coaching transition. When LSU fired Brian Kelly, there were questions about the future of the recruiting class, not because of the player’s connection to Kelly, but because of what it meant for the rest of the staff. There was plenty of uncertainty. When new head coach Lane Kiffin took over, he made it a priority to keep this class together.
Louisiana has a habit of producing elite defensive back talent, too, and in 2026, LSU signed safety Aiden Hall and corner Dez Ellis. Both four-star DBs from Louisiana.
56% of LSU signees is up from last year’s mark of 43%. In 2023, the number dipped to 38%. Maybe its not a coincidence that the 2023 recruiting class did not amount to much at LSU, with most players transferring out after struggling to earn consistent roles in Baton Rouge.
