During an in-conference game between the UCLA Bruins and Michigan State Spartans, fans saw something very strange happen between a coach and a player.
Despite facing a blowout loss against Michigan State on Tuesday evening, UCLA’s Steven Jamerson III hustled back in transition to avoid Spartans big man Carson Cooper getting an open look at the basket. His foul was a bit too hard and the two players squared up after the play was finished.

Cooper went to the free-throw line and Jamerson was assessed for a flagrant foul for his dangerous actions.
That decision by the officials was not good enough for UCLA head coach Mick Cronin, though.
He bizarrely chose to send Jamerson back to the locker rooms and eject him from the game despite refs not ruling for as much.
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said it was the “first time” he saw a coach do that but that it did, indeed, sound like Cronin.

Following the loss, Cronin was asked his thoughts about when the Michigan State student section chanted the name of former Spartans big Xavier Booker who has since transferred to play for the Bruins.

Cronin said it was the worst question he was ever asked and then asked the reporter if he really felt he would care about the opposing student section.
The reporter calmly responded that he did not when Cronin bizarrely asked if the interviewer was raising his voice at him. When told no, Cronin did not accept that answer.
It was an incredibly strange interaction and it made a strange night even more odd for UCLA fans everywhere.
