There were several players from the 2024 Georgia Bulldogs that transferred to other destinations with mixed results. Some transferred to another SEC team, like Missouri edge rusher Damon Wilson, while some transferred into the group of Five or the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level, like Georgia State running back Branson Robinson or Sacramento State quarterback Jaden Rashada.
Former Georgia wide receiver Anthony Evans III was one of the former category. He transferred from Georgia to the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Jan. 15, 2025. The four-star class of 2022 recruit was used sparingly on the Bulldogs, racking up just 13 receptions for 123 yards, but he was also used for jet sweeps and returned both punts and kicks for the Bulldogs. The hope was that he’d evolve into a deep threat that’s shifty with the ball in his hands.

Unfortunately, Mississippi State reaped the rewards. He led the Mississippi State Bulldogs in receptions (67) and was second in receiving yards (831) and touchdowns (four) to 2026 NFL draft declared Brenen Thompson. He had three 100-yard games against then No. 12 Arizona State, Florida, and Arkansas. In the game against Arkansas, he had 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns on five receptions and caught the game-winning touchdown to help the Bulldogs win 38-35.
Evans III has at least another year of eligibility left as a junior. If he improves on his already good statistics in 2026, he will be receiving a ton of draft buzz. It’s a tough pill to swallow for a Georgia receiving core that’s lost Zachariah Branch, Colbie Young, and Dillon Bell to the 2026 NFL draft.

Evans III finished the 2025 season with more receiving yardage than any player at Georgia. However, Georgia got the last laugh with UGA beating Mississippi State 41-21.
