Oakland Sweeps Horizon League; Conference Streak Up to 46

The Oakland University swimming and diving teams swept the Horizon League Championships.

The Grizzlies have swept the conference titles for 13 years since moving from the Summit League to the Horizon League.

Overall, Oakland has won 46 conference titles in a row, and the women have won 31.

Oakland’s Karel Subagyo, Joey Countryman, Max Haney and Harry Nicholson won the 800 free relay in a meet-record 6:21.43.

The Grizzlies got a win in the 200 free relay with Ajjuub Ezzat, Micah Scheffer, Nicholson and Charlie Brown, swimming another meet record of 1:17.16.

Ezzat, Chris Palvadre, Scheffer and Nicholson broke the meet mark in the 400 medley as well, getting to the wall in 3:06.92.

Nicholson won the 200 free in a meet-record 1:34.12, an NCAA provisional cut. Ezzat won the 200 back in 1:42.42.

Oakland’s Ike Martinez won the 200 fly in a meet-record 1:44.19.

Oakland’s Max Haney won the 200 IM in 1:44.68. Cooper Dillman won the 400 IM in 3:48.10 and 1650 free (15:16.32). Palvadre won the 100 breaststroke (52.20).

Nicholson, Joey Countryman, Scheffer and Brown won the 400 free relay in a meet-record 2:52.30.

Indianapolis’ Grayson Tidwell, Logan Kelly, Hugo Arteaga and Yassin Abdelghany won the 200 medley relay in 1:24.36.

Abdelghany won the 50 free in 18.91, breaking the meet record. He broke another meet mark to win the 100 butterfly in 45.23 and a third in the 100 free (42.28). Kelly won the 200 breast in a meet-record 1:52.21.

Indianapolis divers Sebastian Otero (400.20) and Blake Vanderjeugdt (357.40) went 1-2 on the 1-meter board and 3-meter with Otero (389.55) and Vanderjeugdt (354.45).

Youngstown State’s Quinn Cynor won the 500 free in 4:20.78.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Sam Lorenz won the 100 backstroke in a meet-record 45.81.

In the women’s meet, Oakland’s Mia Englender, Kelley Hassett, Viviane Partridge and Erika Pietras won the 800 free relay in 7:18.47.

Oakland’s Clarissa Bezuindenhout won the 200 IM in 2:01.68, going 1-2 with Lydia Soldatke (2:02.58).

Hassett won the 400 IM in 4:22.11. Soldatke won the 100 backstroke (53.89) and 200 backstroke (1:55.88).

Oakland’s Kendra Venter, Partridge, Pietras and Avery Beal won the 400 free relay in a meet-record 3:20.09.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Mara Freeman, Gabrielle LePine, Maddy Hayashi and Christiana Brooks won the 200 medley relay in 1:40.02.

LePine, Brielle Laube, Freeman and Brooks won the 200 free relay in 1:31.77. Freeman, LePine, Mayashi and Brooks won the 400 medley relay in 3:41.26.

LePine won the 50 free in 22.74 and 100 breaststroke (1:01.68). Hayashi won the 100 butterfly in 54.88 and 200 fly (2:01.71). Brooks won the 100 free in 49.98.

Indianapolis’ Alaina Heyde won 3-meter diving with a score of 284.60.

Youngstown State’s Olivia Sweetman won the 500 free in 4:49.29, 1650 free in 16:46.26 and 200 free in 1:48.65. Hannah Murray won the 200 breaststroke in 2:17.61.

Cleveland State’s Ellie Seiter won 1-meter diving with a score of 294.35.
