Rain has forced a ton of uncertainty at EchoPark Speedway this weekend. On Saturday, there began to be much doubt as to the Truck Series race and the O’Reilly Series race thereafter. Luckily, the Truck Series race did go on, but it was halted at 4:20 PM.
Upon reaching 4:20 PM, NASCAR would wave the white flag, and the field would come to a finish just a few laps short of the scheduled lap total. That saw a fantastic finish to end the field’s runs. The common champion showed his face again, that man being Kyle Busch.

Corey Heim, driver of the No. 1 TRICON Garage Toyota, stated his unrest in a post-race interview. He would say this race should have gone on until the end, since the team invests a lot to get out there and race with their sponsors. Unfortunately for Heim, it is not that simple.
FR8 208 Race Recap
The Truck Series FR8 208 at EchoPark Speedway was a thriller. Ben Rhodes began the race by leading much of it before falling short at the end of Stage One. He would later run out of fuel but make a late charge and nearly win the race.

As Rhodes tried to make his way back into the mix, the front of the pack saw a fierce battle between Kyle Busch, Carson Hocevar, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the final laps. As time neared 4:20 PM, it began to look like Busch may have lost the race. However, with Rhodes falling loose on the bottom, that line would collapse, and Busch would prevail ahead of Hocevar running that mostly dominant top line.
Corey Heim Calls Out NASCAR

Heim would go on to state that this “reminds me of growing up racing quarter-midgets when you had a curfew.” “It makes me feel like a little kid again.” Heim would state that this situation was “stupid” and that he would have preferred if NASCAR had given them a lap count to run once Stage Three went green.

Unstandably so, Heim was unhappy with the result. This is largely due to his strong No. 1 car, which could not reach victory lane. Heim would come out of the final pit in the top 5 and fans expected Heim to be among the favorites to earn the checkered flag. Instead, Heim finished 5th.
The situation is not as simple as Heim may imply. NASCAR faces rain all day long on Saturday. With a Sunday schedule commanded by the Cup Series, they had to get this race in when they could. The caveat is that Fox Sports 1 only had a TV window of that length. The CW airs the window from 5 PM onward, while Fox Sports 1 has College Basketball. The CW is also exclusive to the O’Reilly Series, so it cannot pick up the remaining coverage of the Truck Series race.

Heim lost today, but he will be back. The events are largely unconfirmed, but he will run a vast schedule for TRICON Garage this season. His next Cup series race will not be until April.
