The University of Dayton men’s basketball team were in control against No. 23 Saint Louis on Tuesday night.

Amael L’Etang had a double-double for the second straight game, 26 points and 10 rebounds, as Dayton upset Saint Louis, 77-62, at the UD Arena.

Javon Bennett added 17 while Jordan Derkack finished with 14 points off the bench.
UD held Saint Louis to 5-of-21 from three-point range.
The Flyers extended their winning streak to four games.
They improved to 19-9 overall and 10-5 in the Atlantic 10.

Saint Louis led, 4-3, after Trey Green’s two foul shots with 16:19 left in the first half. Bennett’s three-pointer put Dayton up for good, 6-4. Jauin Simon’s dunk, and De’Shayne Montgomery’s layup increased it to 10-4.
UD led 15-6 when Derkack made the first of his two treys that increased it to 18-6. Keonte Jones’ dunk and layup expand it further to 22-8.

L’Etang and Derkack combined to score eight points to stretch the Flyers’ advantage to 30-11 with 7:24 left until halftime.
Dayton led by as much as 25 points, 38-13, after a Bennett three. The Billikens went on an 11-2 run to cut the deficit to 40-24 with 1:40 in the first half. L’Etang scored four points to help UD to a 44-28 halftime lead.
Saint Louis got as close as 11 points, 67-56, in the second half. But L’Etang’s four free throws extended it to 71-58. His behind-the-back pass led to a Derkack layup with 1:46 left, which helped seal the game.
Derkack closed out the game with a fastbreak dunk.

The Flyers held Saint Louis to its lowest offensive output of the season.
Dayton’s next game will be on Friday, Feb. 27, when they play at George Washington in Washington, D.C., at 7 p.m.
