Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton has led Georgia to back-to-back SEC championships. In his first full season as a starter, Stockton helped Georgia return to the College Football Playoff and consistently displayed excellent toughness.
Stockton finished among the top-10 in the Heisman voting and is looking to build off his first full season as a starter. Stockton will need to continue to improve this spring in order to reach the next level.

Lauren Beasley of College Sports Wire ranks Stockton as the third-best returning quarterback in the SEC. Stockton is ranked behind Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed. He’s ahead of Texas quarterback Arch Manning, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers and the rest of the SEC’s returning quarterbacks.
What Lauren Beasley said on Gunner Stockton:
Stockton might be the most underappreciated quarterback in the conference. He quietly put together one of the most efficient seasons in the conference last year, with nearly 70% completions, 24 touchdowns, and just five picks. And he can run. He steadily improved throughout the 2025 campaign, and he looks poised to take another step forward this year.
Beasley also notes that Georgia may have a challenge replacing some of the weapons surrounding Stockton. Georgia lost receivers Zachariah Branch, Dillon Bell, Colbie Young and Noah Thomas to the 2026 NFL draft.

Stockton still has a great tight end room (Lawson Luckie and Elyiss Williams) and running back room (Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens). The Bulldogs certainly have a few questions at receiver. Georgia’s leading returning receiver is London Humphreys, who posted just 18 receptions for 276 yards and three touchdowns a season ago. Georgia added physical Georgia Tech transfer receiver Isaiah Canion, who should compete for the top receiver spot.

Georgia will hope that Sacovie White-Helton, Talyn Taylor, CJ Wiley or Landon Roldan can breakout at receiver. The Bulldogs should get more consistent play out of Stockton at the very least and that could be enough for the Bulldogs to win the SEC again.
Of course, not every SEC team returns a starting quarterback from a season ago. Many programs added notable transfers.
