Big 12 Championships, Night 5: Albane Cachot, Adam Chaney Set Meet Records
Arizona State has assembled another dominant Big 12 Championships, as the Sun Devils look to go 4-for-4 in conference titles in their two seasons in the league.
The women led by 200 points entering the final night, the men by 130 with no signs of it slipping at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
With that hold on the meet, Arizona State started the final day with Adam Chaney setting a meet record in the men’s 200 backstroke and Albane Cachot securing one in the women’s 100 freestyle.

Men’s 200 backstroke
As a grad student, Adam Chaney has refashioned himself as a sprinter. But he’s got some distance left in his legs.
Chaney went 1:38.33 to win the 200 back. That downs the 2019 meet record of Texas’ Ryan Harty at 1:38.16. It’s a best time for Chaney, who had been 1:39.59 in a dual meet in November.
ASU went 1-2 for not the first time this meet, with JT Ewing jumping from fifth in prelims to second in 1:39.72. Arizona’s Alex Desangles got another podium spot in third in 1:41.43, with teammate Ryan Hardy fifth. In between was Aiden Gerst of Cincinnati.
