WBB Recap: Oregon vs Washington

by

Your Oregon Ducks wrapped up the regular season on Sunday afternoon against the Washington Huskies, battling for seeding in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament. The first quarter of the ballgame was very similar to the last time the two teams met, with both sides struggling offensively to start the game. UW would get going first, building up a 9-3 lead with just over four minutes remaining in the quarter, but the Ducks would battle back and tie things up at 9-9 with 2:47 left. UW would, unfortunately, hit back-to-back threes to close out the quarter, giving the Huskies a 15-9 lead after one.

The second quarter would be more of the same, unfortunately, with UW building on their lead, Oregon cutting it back down to ~4, and then UW pushing it back to 9 or 10. Back and forth, this cycle would continue, as the Huskies took a 9-point lead, 36-27, into halftime. The second half would open up with the Huskies grabbing a quick four points, increasing their lead to 13 at 40-27. But then it was Oregon’s turn, who would use a 13-2 run to cut the UW lead down to two, 42-40, before UW would close the half on a 5-point spurt, taking a 53-47 lead into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter would be the most offensively entertaining quarter of the game, with Katie Fiso and Ehis Etute leading the charge for the Ducks as they battled back-and-forth with Sayvia Sellers (29 points on the day) and the Huskies. The pair of Ducks would combine for 18 of the 22 points scored in the quarter (6 for Fiso, 12 for Etute), but it just wasn’t quite enough to stop UW, who would take the game on a made FT with 5 seconds left, winning 70-69, and cementing Oregon as the 11 seed in the conference tournament.
