The best women’s basketball player in the ACC plays for Notre Dame. Again.
The ACC announced on Tuesday that Hannah Hidalgo was named the ACC women’s basketball Player of the Year, awarding Hannah the top individual honor for the second straight season. That isn’t the only hardware she will be bringing home however as she also was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year again, completing a rare double as the headliner of this year’s All-ACC women’s basketball awards.

The voting was conducted by the league’s head coaches and its Blue Ribbon Panel. Hannah became the first player in conference history to win both awards in consecutive seasons. She led the league in scoring averaging 25.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.6 teal and 5.4 assists per game. In total, Hannah is second among all active Division 1 players with 2,281 career points which is 12th on the ACC’s all-time scoring list. Her 162 steals this season are the second most ever in a single ACC campaign.
It’s been an award-heavy season for Hidalgo as she has also taken home seven ACC Player of the Week honors this season, which is also the most in conference history. The accolades aren’t just confined to this season either, as she’s won the 2024 Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year and Player of the Year as well. Hidalgo is one of the most decorated Notre Dame players ever. She most likely will break the Irish scoring record next season held by Arike Ogunbowale.
Hidalgo and the Fighting Irish will play in the ACC women’s conference tournament starting Thursday against the winner of Miami vs. Stanford.
