HOUSTON — The Houston Texans and tight end Dalton Schultz agreed to a one-year extension worth $12.6 million, a source told ESPN on Friday.
Schultz was the Texans’ No. 2 receiving threat for quarterback C.J. Stroud in 2025. He finished the season with a team- and career-high 82 catches and 777 receiving yards, second on the team behind Pro Bowl wideout Nico Collins (1,117).
Schultz was entering the final season of the three-year, $36 million deal he signed in the 2024 offseason. He initially signed with the Texans on a one-year, $10 million contract in 2023.
The extension locks Schultz in through the 2027 season.
The former Stanford standout was a fourth-round pick by the Cowboys in 2018. He spent five seasons in Dallas before moving to Houston.
For his career, Schultz has totaled 4,066 receiving yards, 27 receiving touchdowns and 405 receptions over eight seasons.
His extension caps a busy week for the Texans, who, among other moves, acquired running back David Montgomery in a trade with the Detroit Lions and extended All-Pro defensive end Danielle Hunter for $40 million.
