The fight many think is the greatest to ever take place between two women inside an MMA cage is headed to the UFC Hall of Fame.
During the UFC 326 broadcast Saturday, the promotion announced Zhang Weili vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk 1 will be inducted this summer. The bout took place at UFC 248 in March 2020 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The women’s strawweight title fight lasted five action-packed rounds with the two women combining for a whopping 351 significant strikes landed – the most for a women’s bout in UFC history. Both women wore significant damage at the bout’s end, particularly Jedrzejczyk, whose head went viral for the immense swelling.
After the final buzzer sounded, Weili was named the victor by split decision (48-47, 47-48, 48-47). The win marked her first title defense.
While Weili will go down as the winner, the result is overshadowed by the battle it took to get there. Now, the fight will forever be immortalized in the UFC Hall of Fame.
“The fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili at UFC 248 is one of the greatest fights I’ve ever seen,” UFC CEO Dana White said in a news release. “This fight was incredible. You had two talented savages that wanted the strawweight title more than anything, and neither one of them backed down during this fight. I knew this was going to be a badass fight and it absolutely delivered. Congrats to Joanna and Weili on a fight that will always be remembered.”

Weili vs. Jedrzejczyk marks the first women’s bout to enter the fight wing of the UFC Hall of Fame. Jedrzejczyk (retired) already has been inducted as a fighter, and someday Weili will likely receive the same honor.
It’s unclear when the Hall of Fame ceremony will take place, but it typically coincides with International Fight Week in July. No other inductees have yet been announced for the class of 2026.
