Brit Sky Brown, 17, crowned world skateboarding champion for second time

Great Britain’s Sky Brown has won her second world skateboarding championship in Brazil.

Brown, 17, took top spot in a weather-disrupted women’s park event in São Paulo, with competition called off before the third run because of rain.

Fortunately for the Brit, she was leading the standings on 88.16 ahead of Japan’s Mizuho Hasegawa on 84.36 at the time of the cancellation. Minna Stess of the United States took bronze with 83.90.

“The level is crazy. I had to put a lot down to get here, but I am definitely bummed how we couldn’t fully do a final,” Brown said. “To win, to be a world champion on International Women’s Day definitely means a lot, but there are bigger things going on.

“This feels huge and I am so thankful but there are bigger things, I just pray for peace.”

The win was Brown’s second world title in the park event after she became Britain’s first world champion in 2023 at just 13-years-old.

Brown won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and at the Paris Games in 2024.
