LAS VEGAS – Diyar Nurgozhay met the media Saturday after his win over Rafael Tobias at UFC 326.
Nurgozhay (11-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) had to put in 15 minutes of work, but outpaced Tobias (14-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) for a unanimous decision on the prelims at T-Mobile Arena.

“The fight pretty much went according to plan,” Nurgozhay said at his post-fight news conference. “The only reason I didn’t get a finish is I didn’t work hard enough. There were moments I could have finished him. From what I understand, his nose is broke, something else, he broke, so I think we put as much damage as we could on him.”
The mild upset win was Nurgozhay’s first in the UFC, and the light heavyweight said it was a relief to get that monkey off his back after two losses to open his run in the promotion.
