THEMAGIC5, the custom-fit swim goggle company known for its use of AI, facial scanning, and robotics-driven manufacturing, today announced that David Shackley has joined the company as its first Chief Marketing Officer.

THEMAGIC5 designs and manufactures swimming goggles made specifically for each individual swimmer, using a smartphone face scan and proprietary fitting technology to eliminate leaks, pressure marks, and discomfort common with traditional goggles.

Shackley joins THEMAGIC5 following senior marketing leadership roles at Marriott International, where he most recently oversaw Global Creative, Internal Communications and PR for Marriott Bonvoy, the company’s loyalty platform. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Apple, where he served as Head of Product Launches and was part of the leadership team that launched iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch. He also spent several years at Discovery Channel, where he worked on major franchises including Shark Week, and was part of the original team behind the launch of the Oprah Winfrey Network.

An avid swimmer and board member of the USA Swimming Foundation, Shackley discovered THEMAGIC5 as a customer before joining the company. After using the goggles himself, he became interested in the opportunity to help scale the brand and introduce the technology to a broader swimming audience.

Founded by Rasmus Barfred, Niklas Hedegaard, and Bo Haaber, THEMAGIC5 has served more than 300,000 swimmers worldwide and gained international attention after appearing on ABC’s Shark Tank, where the company secured investment from Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec. As Chief Marketing Officer, Shackley will lead brand strategy, marketing, and community growth as the company continues to expand its global presence.
