Quillan Salkilld: Beneil Dariush win sends me ‘head-first’ into top 10

Quillan Salkilld is ready to continue his breakthrough as a lightweight contender with a victory over a noted veteran in Beneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night 275.

Australia’s Salkilld (11-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) has showed promise through four octagon appearances, three of which he has finished in the first round. Now he gets a chance to fight Dariush (23-7-1 MMA, 17-7-1 UFC), who is tied for the third-most wins in divisional history, in the co-headliner of the May 2 event at RAC Arena in Perth (Paramount+).

“I’ve been wanting a top 15 opponent, and fortunate enough to get one and get this opportunity in my home city as a co-main event?” Salkilld said. “Nothing tops that.”

With Dariush arguably on the last stretch of his career, it’s a chance for Salkilld to put a signature win on his resume. And the stage isn’t lost on him.

“I want to run in guns a-blazing, head-first into the rankings,” Salkilld said. “I’m happy I just get the opportunity to do so.”
