In-State Sprinter Bryce Keaton Verbally Commits to UNC Wilmington for 2027
NEW COMMIT: The University of North Carolina, Wilmington has picked up an in-state verbal commitment from sprinter Bryce Keaton of Durham, N.C. Keaton will make the 2.5 hour drive to join the Seahawks’ Class of 2031.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am extremely grateful to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic careers at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Thank you to all of my family, Coach Cole, and my teammates for supporting me throughout this journey! I would also like to thank Coach Bobby and Coach Brandon for giving me this amazing opportunity. I’m so excited for what’s to come. GO SEAHAWKS!”
Keaton does his club swimming with Carolina Aquatic Team. At North Carolina Seniors last month, he placed second in the 100 free and earned four best times. Last summer, he competed at North Carolina LCM Seniors and earned lifetime bests in all his events before going on to race at NCSA Summer Championships.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 20.04
- 100 free – 45.50
- 200 free – 1:40.57
- 100 fly – 51.63
- 100 back – 51.87
Currently a junior at Charles E. Jordan High School, Keaton earned silver in the 50 free and bronze in the 100 free at the 2026 North Carolina 8A State Championships while helping his 4×50 free relay win the state title.
Last month, UNCW continued its dominance of the Coastal Athletic Association by winning its fifth straight conference title and 18th overall.
